As part of their Loeb Fellowship 50th Reunion weekend in October 2022, a group of 20 Loeb alumni and affiliate came to Project LEARN to unearth new public art projects and initiatives to promote the city’s vitality through ArtUp Lowell.

Lowell’s landscape is about to dramatically change. This month, over just two weeks’ time, eight muralists, from Lowell and around the globe, will produce large-scale works of art in city neighborhoods through the creative placemaking initiative ArtUp Lowell.

Last month, 18 high school students from Lowell and surrounding towns participated in a program that exposed them to real-life simulations in the medical field. The newly launched program was developed from a collaboration between Project LEARN, Inc. and the Harvard Medical School (HMS) MEDscience program.

Two rising seniors at Lowell High School are applying to college with help from Upward Bound, a federally funded program run through a collaboration between the high school and Middlesex Community College.

During the month of August, seven murals will be painted on buildings across Lowell neighborhoods including three in the Downtown area, two in Back Central and one each in The Acre and Pawtucketville.

After a two-year break during the pandemic, Lowell middle school students are back at Idea Camp, a three-week STEAM workshop program hosted by Project Learn Inc. and Lowell Public Schools.

Two hard-working, community-minded students from the Lowell High School Class of 2022 have been awarded full-ride scholarships to UMass Lowell.
