2024 Annual Appeal

Hi!

My name is Sebastian Rivera, a proud graduate of Lowell High School’s Class of 2024 and a dedicated Project LEARN participant.

With your support and the opportunities provided by Project LEARN, I’m on my way to realizing my dream of shaping education policy to address inequities. Today, I am a first-generation college student at UMass Lowell, pursuing studies in Sociology, Education, & Psychology.

My senior year, Project LEARN was hiring Early College Ambassadors and, after witnessing firsthand the impact it has on closing opportunity gaps for students, I felt inspired to help my peers access higher education, too. It was fulfilling giving back to my community while gaining valuable advocacy & networking skills that expanded my passion for social equity.

Thanks to this opportunity with Project LEARN, I was invited to become an Early College Policy Fellow! I’m super excited to start engaging with policymakers while advocating for legislation and state funding, all while being trained in public and civic engagement, advocacy, and grassroots organizing.

I’m truly grateful for all of the opportunities you’ve helped make possible. These experiences have unquestionably prepared me with the building blocks and strong foundation needed to continue my passions. In my opinion, Project LEARN is the bridge between students and their successes!

Your thoughtful contributions to Project LEARN and believing in our community’s future

professionals has granted quality and easy access for Lowell students and their interests.

We appreciate your work and dedication, thank you for believing in us.

Sebastian Rivera

What Lowell’s Future Leaders Are Saying About Our Programs

Surika Praik, LHS c/o 2025

“If you’d asked me if I saw myself running for Class Officer in the future, I would’ve declined without a second thought! Over time, the skills I learned through Project LEARN helped me gain the confidence to help others and make a difference, which is something I’ll take with me as I pursue my future career.”

Perry Pho, LHS c/o 2025

“As high school senior, I’m amazed at how much I’ve learned over the past 3 years, from troubleshooting Chromebooks to exploring new programming languages with my club. I’m incredibly grateful to Project LEARN for providing me and my peers with the chance to experience joy and creativity.”
